Designing Space and Form

Sponsored event*

In this two-day course we’ll learn Japanese tree-trimming techniques and applying them in our nursery. We’ll learn how to visualize the tree’s growth pattern and how to mold that pattern into the desired shapes. We’ll explore how to reveal the spirit of the tree and how to play with light and space. The knowledge of balancing opposites in a state of change is fundamental to all design. From this we learn how to make wicked decisions in a dancing landscape. Pine trimming is the best way for a designer to learn  how to work with space and form. No experience with tree-trimming is required, but you need to bring your own pine trimmers.

Schedule: Saturday-Sunday 9am-6pm.
Cost: $340 (includes lunch)
